The Old Town Steady Stand Bar offers additional support when standing in your Predator kayak. This lean post makes sight fishing and casting a breeze. It attaches to the accessory plates for easy set-up and removal. It folds completely flat during paddling and still allows access to the front hatch and the pod.
|Diameter:||1 in / 2.54 cm|
|Material:||15 Gauge Stainless Steel|
Key features: lightweight alluminum, padded to help prevent fatigue, adjustable for different angler heights, easy setup only requiring 8 holes drilled. Bad features: it is almost impossible to get into front hatch on the water with this in place. If you have "sea legs" this is easy. Otherwise do not try. Lacking Features to add to make it more useful: bungee to him it down during transportation, paddle holder. Helpful hints for atachment: take measurements and drill all holes on one side being careful to not drill directly into kayak body. Then remove Plates and place upside down on opposite side plates for faster hole drilling. This will save you at least 15 minutes.
I have a Predator XL. The stand up bar serves its purpose but the mounting instructions and measurements were less than desirable. There is no way to pre-drill the holes in the mounting plate so they will line up the mounts of the stand up bar. Also, once the bar is mounted and upright it will be difficult to mount rod holders in a place where the stand up bar won't be in the way. I am actually thinking of a way to mount the rod holders directly to the stand up bar so that they are easier to access.
I really like this stand up bar. Instructions and install were easy. This gives me something to lean up against when i am flipping jigs or casting from a standing position. And i do have access to my front compartment if it is up or down. If you like to stand this will make you feel more secure against flipping out of your predator. Glad i got it.
