The Hobie Kayak Sail Furler Kit is going to make sailing a whole lot more simple. Instead of rolling up your sail by hand, this easy-to-install rigging kit can be added to any Mirage kayak sail kit. Kit comes complete with all the hardware you will need and installation is simple. See the Instructions on the Resources tab.
I had made a homemade furler to use on my revo 11 but was not pleased with how it worked. This furler is well worth the money if you plan on doing any sailing. If you install on a revo 11 you can't follow the instructions exactly. See the hobie site for more info... http://www.hobiecat.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=51318
Components and ease of use super. I cannot understand why, when one of the furler balls was discovered to be facing the wrong direction and on the wrong side of the knot, why Hobie didn't notify distributers of the flaw and fix that was mentioned on the forum. Some inconsistent QC and communication.
The furler does the job. Easy to install. Mine came with a ball turned in the wrong direction. I have noticed others with the same complaint. It still works though.
I installed the furler kit today and overall it was an easy install except the rear pad eye. I followed Hobie's instruction to the letter, but this kit is just shy of being a universal fit. I have a2009 Revo and the location for the rear pad eye for the bungee was just in front of the built in rod holder. I had to lay in the driveway with a 3/8 open end wrench and contort myself to reach the nuts for tightening. Another issue, which was already mentioned is one of the plastic balls used for unfurling was facing in the wrong direction. I will try to come back to the review pages once I get a resolution from Hobie. I will say even with the hicups I have mentioned the furler appears to be good quality and well engineered. It is going to make sailing even more fun with my Hobie Revolution.
