Job Description
Award winning (named "Best Online Retailer" by BackPacker Magazine) AustinKayak.com continues to grow and we are looking for kick ass developer to join our tribe. You will help architect, build, implement a world-class mobile ecommerce site for a fast-growing, leading Outdoor Retailer as well as build mobile apps for our warehouse management/optimization system. This isn't for the faint of heart, you must love cutting edge technology, be able to adapt fast and geek out on the latest blogs and newest tricks for the mobile space. Lastly, you have to be self directed and able to tackle the project without constant supervision, it will be your project all the way.

Your Role

• Redesign/Rebuild the current mobile website for austinkayak.com and extend it to our other sites
• Extend our current Warehouse Management System in the mobile space
• Turn requirements, ideas, and cocktail napkin drawings into products; and fast
• Stay up on the ever changing technology and help plan for the next big thing

Key Skills

• Front-end Mobile web UI implementation (CSS3, HTML5, AJAX,jQuery)
• 3+ years of PHP development with understanding of backend integration
• Thorough understanding of 3 tier development and full SDLC using:
- jQuery
- Javascript
• Database experience with MySQL/SQL
• Strong understanding of OO design principals and patterns
• Utilize a single code-base to deploy multiple sites
• Knowledge of the Zend Framework

Not required but great additional skills:

• iPhone/Android App development or maintenance
• Cloud Stuff and things
• Unix/Linux
• Database Administration

Successful candidates will have the following:

• 4 year college degree in Computer Science
• Masters Degree is a plus
• Ability to multi-task; juggle multiple projects/assignments
• Strong communication skills
• Effective project management skills; ability to meet deadlines
• Exceptional organizational skills
• Love for the outdoors is a plus
