When thrown underhand, like traditional rescue ropes, it has an aerodynamic shape which adds 25% distance to the average throw (Based on WRSI Independent Research). The Hail Mary can also be thrown over hand like a football. Many of us grew up throwing footballs and are much more accurate throwing overhand. Much too often people without practice, throw their rescue rope underhand and are wildly inaccurate. Cool football shape really does make the throw better, we love to toss it around in the shop, but be careful, it is fairly heavy and hurts if it hits you in the head. This one is the hi-tension for the added strength

| Review: | Purchased the largest one. Little heavy to throw football style, but if you pull out some of the line to lighten it a bit, it sails well with the overhand throw. Just practice in the yard. Haven't tried it on the water yet, but can send it through the window of the kids playhouse from 40 feet. Good enough for me. | ||||
