In a prior newsletter we discussed why we do not offer packages. Well, that was a bit not true. Our Hobie Quest Fisherman is a packaged deal, it isn't our package, so we weren't entirely fibbing, it is the only way that Hobie sells their kayaks. This specific one is the Fisherman edition which adds to the package. The general Hobie package is to includes two flush rod holders, seat and paddle. The Fisherman package adds a Scotty rod holder, anchor kit, cooler and kayak cart.
What makes the quest different from most other kayaks is that it comes with all the bells and whistles. It has an 8" hatch in front of the cockpit that utilizes the new Hobie one-hand operation. It also has a forward hatch that is one of the best designed in the industry. Add the two convienence pockets for small items (such as sun screen or small lure box) and you have just about everything you need. If you find that the storage isn't enough you can also add a second 8" hatch in the very back.
The quest paddles very nicely. It tracking is good and the stability is about as good as it gets for a sit-on-top kayak. The turning is easy and the bow design minimizes any bow slap in choppy water.
The quest comes with or without a rudder and the fisherman comes in Sand, Green or Orange. The non-fish comes in Sand, Red, Yellow and Blue.
