Welcome to the first monthly newsletter from Austin Canoe & Kayak (ACK). At ACK we believe in having fun and will use our monthly newsletters to provide fun, interesting, and useful information.
ACK - Who Are We?
We get asked all the time, who are we? So, the simple answer is that we are two brothers, Steve and Peter, who purchased the business last May from Bill Gossett. Many of you who have visited our store have met either one or both of us. Additionally, many ask about The "Red" Dog. Red as we call him is one of four pets that reside in the two families. He was the lucky one to have the catchy name to appear on our website.

In addition to the basics about who we are, it is important to understand that we purchased this business with a strong desire to ensure each of our customers get the best possible service and walk away feeling good about their purchase, whether that be a $1,000 Kayak or a $0.60 rivet. We believe that giving this service is what differentiates us from any of our competitors and we only wish that the places we shopped cared for their customers as much as we do. So, should anything ever go astray, do not hesitate to call and ask for Steve or Peter!
Product Review - Hobie Kona
In each newsletter we will review a different product starting with the Hobie Kona. Why the Kona? Well, it is our most versatile kayak when it comes to wanting a tandem, but also desiring the ability to paddle alone (no, not alone in that your significant other is sitting in the kayak looking pretty while you paddle away). So many customers want a Kayak that meets the Single/Tandem need and the Kona delivers.

What makes the Kona unique from most other brands is that it is 11' 6" long. This makes it not only easy to move around and load but also makes paddling as a solo enjoyable. Other tandems are 13' and 14' making solo paddling less than optimal. The second most important aspect is the design itself. The Kona is filled with innovation and conveniences. From the two 8" storage hatches, the two built in convenience pockets and three bottle/cup holders, nothing is forgotten. Add the sloped seating area that is second in comfort to none and you have a top notch kayak that can be fun for two or one. In addition to those mentioned above, the Kona comes with two quality paddles, two seats, two paddle holders and, the always necessary, water bottles. Still not convinced? Stop by, we'll let you compare...

We at Austin Kayak would like to thank you for a great first year and we look forward to providing even more services and features in the future.
