Is Spring Here?

It's that time once again when we rely one very large rodent to tell us whether or not we will have to endure six more weeks of winter.  Well I'm betting Ol' Punxsutawney Phil will pull through with some good news that spring is right around the corner. I'm sure we an all use some good news these days.

Honestly, I can't think of a better time of the year than spring.  We all begin to emerge from our long winter naps, and look forward to getting back out in the fresh air.  There is nothing better then heading out to your favorite paddling spot on a beautiful, cool spring morning, putting your yak into the water and taking in all the beauty around you.

See you on the water soon!

 ACK Holiday Party Golf Extravaganza
How We Roll

Chris GolfingWe were so busy with work and travel during the holidays it took us a few extra weeks to get our holiday party in.  Last years paintball war is still brought up on a weekly basis as the San Marcos and Austin locations wailed on each other for an afternoon.

This year we took to the links and had a 36 hole putt-putt challenge.  The event was highly competitive and fun as we played in teams of 2 randomly drawn from a hat.  The contest was won by Blake (San Marcos) and Jeff (Austin) who had holes in one on 2 of the last 3 holes to take the victory.

The victory was overshadowed though by one of the most amazing shots I have ever Tom Golfseen in my life.  Tom from the Austin store decided to be a little unconventional on the 13th hole and attempted to chip his ball over the curb of a separated green.  The group ahead of us had taken cover.  Tom bounced it over the curb and 1-hoped it into the hole for an ace on what I would consider the most difficult hole on the course.

It was a great year and I was glad we got to have a fun day away from the stores with the team.
Knifes and Multi-Tools at ACK
A Kayaking Necessity

ACK is pleased to announce that we now carry a wide assortment of knives and multi-tools from NRS, Wenger, Gerber River and Tool Logic.

Check out the Tool Logic folding knife with fire starter.  Every time I see this tool I think Tom Hanks should have had one of these bad boys in the movie "Cast Away".

The NRS Pilot Knife is just about the hottest item we have going right now.  They are flying off the shelf so I would get your order in soon before everyone in your kayaking club has one but you!

Boat Show  Fun

I think our very own Steve Messana said it best while we packed up from the San Antonio show..."I wish every day was the Boat Show!"

We just finished the boats shows, and did we have had a great time.  Our first experience at the Houston boat show was a fantastic one.  Ten days of talking about kayaking, catching up with some old friends, and making lots of new ones. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, and helped to make these events such a great time.

Look for us soon at the Houston Fishing Show in March with a brand new deal for our great customers.
The Liquid Logic Remix XP 9 and XP 10
A Versatile Kayak

With spring in the air, those who prefer the faster waters, begin hoping for a quick thaw to get the rivers running.  Those who brave whitewater have been familiar with Liquid Logic for years, and we are excited to announce that they have designed an outstanding kayak that bridges the gap between whitewater and a calmer water experience.

The Remix XP comes in two models, the Remix XP 9 and the Remix XP 10.  The XP is the perfect boat if you are looking to run the rapids or take a more leisurely ride on a lake or slow moving river.  This sit inside kayak has an easy entry and adjustment from both the form-fitting hip pads, which take a second to retrofit, and a ratcheting backband, which can be easily disengaged with the flip of a thumb.  The seat is made of quick drying, recyclable DVC material which acts as an air cushion.  This cockpit allows you to sit in your kayak all day without experiencing discomfort.

While still whitewater friendly, this kayak was designed with additional hull width to give it exceptional stability.  Speed was achieved by extending the length and waterline of the XP.  In addition, by dropping the rocker profile slightly it really helps it to cut through flat water.  They have also added a spring loaded stainless steel skeg that keeps this boat going straight as an arrow over long stretches of flat water.

The Remix XP also has a large stern hatch that can hold enough gear for a week long trip.  The "backcess" hatch is easy to get on and off and keeps your gear dry.

If you are in the market for a crossover kayak, look no further than the Remix XP.
