It's that time of year for us Texans when it's a little bit cold outside (for those of you buried in snow, hold down your laughter) and we have to find indoor things to do. One of those events that we participate in is getting down to the local convention centers and competing with the big gas guzzlers.
If your in the Houston, Austin or San Antonio areas make sure you stop by our booths. We will be handing out valuable coupons, have excellent show discounts on some great items as well as raffling off some great gear.
The Houston Boat Show is a 10 day event in the Reliant Convention Center Jan. 8th to Jan. 17th. The Austin Boat Show is at the Austin Convention Center Jan 14th to the 17th and The San Antonio Boat Show is at the Alamo Dome 1/28 to 1/31. Hope to see you there.
The new year is a few days old and Peter, Steve, Chris, Justin, Andrew, Doug, Thomas, Tom, Daniel, Jef, Kate, Amy, David, Beth, Ivan, Alan, Brooks and Will want to wish all of our ACK Newsletter subscribers a Happy New Year! This was a year of challenges and we hope ACK met your wants and needs. In the wake of these challenges, and our desire to always improve, we buckled down and made an attempt to improve every facet of our business to better serve you!
We are always looking for ways to improve our business especially when it comes to serving our customers. We continue to evaluate every aspect of our business, so this year we made a few changes:
We streamlined the ordering process, brought in alternative shippers with faster delivery times and set out to guarantee same day shipping if ordered before 5:00pm Central Time.
The brick and mortar stores were remodeled so they would be easier to shop and to make room for all of the new items.
It's really been a great year, and thanks to you we won some pretty impressive industry awards. There is no reason we won't do everything to make next year even better!
Wishing you a safe and prosperous New Year!
New Products at ACK New Clothes Designed For Paddling
It seems like our new clothing items got everyone a little excited this past month. Apparently not everyone was aware of all the great apparel items we have so I thought this month I'd introduce you to some more of the exciting products we added.
We will start at the bottom and work our way up from there. Several new lines of footwear that are designed for comfort and the water are available. They are all perfect for kayaking or stand up paddle boarding. The Kickers, Cross 4, and Attack shoe are new for us from NRS and the Caveman Bootie from Stohlquist have been wholeheartedly accepted by the paddling community.
The NRS San Juan shorts are my personal favorite. I have replaced all my shorts with them. They are exceptionally comfortable and tough enough to handle my days in the shop or on the water. They dry quickly and thoroughly. I got my wife the NRS Pacific Capri Pants for her active days. She takes our dog and baby down to Lady Bird Lake all the time. She walks vigorously in the pants and doesn't mind when they get dirty because she can wet a rag at the car and clean em up and still meet her friends for lunch.
Those of you that shop in our stores may have seen us wearing the NRS Guide Shirts. We didn't buy em for all the store employees because they weren't comfortable. We love them because they hang well on our bodies even when we are sweating through hundred degree days.
It's imperative to have a good hat out on almost any adventure. The suns rays can be extraordinarily harmful to your skin and river rats like us tend to spend to much time in the sun. We went out and got our hands on some of the best floppy hats in the business from Outdoor Research.
We wouldn't bring these products in if we didn't believe they would be useful and valuable for your kayaking needs. We outfit ourselves in clothes that work and fit well. We hope you do to.
Meet ACK Employees The Backbone Behind On-Line Ordering - Jef
When you place an order at www.AustinKayak.com there is a key person that is in place to ensure your order gets moving quickly. He was hand selected by us to drive and provide an exceptional ordering experience. Without further adieu...please welcome Jef (yes that's Jef with one F) to the ACK Family. He has been extensively trained and prepared for anything our customers can throw at him.
Jef has been with us for a couple of months and has a firm grasp on our distribution center which is loaded with inventory. It's Jef's responsibility to ensure that you receive the merchandise that you ordered and as fast as possible.
Born an Army Brat, Jef has moved around a lot, a WHOLE lot. He has lived in 5 different countries and 38 different states. No matter where he was he found time to spend time outdoors which is what led him to the desire to come work with us. His last job took him to the Middle East where he ran a warehouse for a Military contractor. He says the jobs are pretty similar just less bombs.
So, the next time your order is shipped within minutes of ordering you will know that Jef is running around the warehouse for you.
