Happy New Year
ACK Wishes You and Your Family a Happy New Year!
We would like to extend our sincere thanks for helping ACK make 2007 an incredible year.  In 2007 our focus was on adding more products and new product lines.  With your help we managed to add over 10 new kayaks and over 250 new accessories.  Thanks for all of the suggestions and requests.

In 2008 you will see our kayak selection grow as we fill our newest warehouse with every color of every model.  We will also continue to enhance our website and strive to make your shopping experience the best possible. We are always looking for ways to improve what we do and appreciate your feedback - keep it coming!
As always, thanks for reading our newsletters, it is you, the readers, that makes writing this email each month worthwhile. As promised, we will continue to add valuable content and exclusive offers and we will NEVER SPAM you or sell your address.

The ACK Staff
The Austin Community
Waller Creek Whitewater Park

A local group is making a push to turn Waller Creek in Austin into a whitewater recreation park.  While ACK has no affiliation with this project we definitely support the idea of having some awesome water right in our own backyard.

With the addition of a second whitewater park in the area, the first being the Rio Vista Whitewater Park in San Marcos, there is no doubt our readers would take this opportunity as another great excuse to come and visit Austin more regularly.

This Online petition will be presented at the  Waller Creek Advisory Meeting in late January.
Kayaker of the Month
Scott B.

Scott is a resident of New Braunfels, TX and was nominated by the many people he has influenced to get out on the water.

Twice a month Scott organizes paddle trips for him and up 20 friends and friends of friends.  If you have ever met Scott on the river you will never forget him in fact you will look for him.  His infectious passion for the river and his pension for having a good time make Scott the perfect river captain.

Scott consistently paddles his Malibu 2xl from Ocean Kayak with his wife because it has "plenty of cooler storage".  Thanks for being a great leader for the paddling community and being this months KOM.

New Kayak Review
Old Town Cayuga 110

New to the ACK showrooms this year is the Old Town Cayuga 110.  At first glance you will recognize the superior Old Town craftsmanship that has made the brand famous.  After further investigation you will see the super-comfy, three way adjustable, Extrasport dense cell foam seating system and thigh braces, the water tight bulkhead, front deck rigging, and the ingenious cross-lock rear hatch.

At just under 11 feet long and 26.5 inches wide one might think that it would feel like any other recreational boat but as soon as your on the water it proves otherwise.  With a hull design that is normally found on boats more than twice the price the Cayuga glides through the water with finesse unheard of.  The cockpit is roomy enough to accommodate larger paddlers while the adjustability of the seat and thigh braces can make all but the smallest folks feel snug.

Just incase the 110 isn't enough for you the Cayuga family has three other sizes; the 130, the 146, and the 160 and they come in five colors; green, sunrise, cloud, red, and yellow.  For those of you who are Eco-conscious the 110 is also offered in a recycled "one-off" version. The color varies with the mixture of materials so each one is unique and Old Town donates a percentage of the sale to the Waterkeeper Alliance.

I, like most of America have become addicted to my iPod and that doesn't change when I'm paddling.  I never worry about my iPod getting wet and ruined because these iPod cases from Pelican are tough and water resistant.  Available in black and white.
