Overall responsibility:

The role of the Marketing & Events Coordinator is to assist the Director of Brand Marketing in ACK's marketing and promotional efforts while driving the company's voice through visual and verbal communication. The Marketing & Events Coordinator collaborates with the leadership team in the execution of multi-channel marketing initiatives that build brand awareness and generate sales.

The Marketing & Events Coordinator can expect to work on a variety of different projects varying from local and internal events to online strategies that will help drive traffic into our stores and events. The successful candidate will have strong project management skills and be a strategic thinker to not only execute tasks assigned to them but develop plans, budget, follow up and pull resources together to accomplish the goals. We seek an individual with a positive attitude and an outgoing personality, one who is not afraid to pick up a phone to follow up or stand up in front of a group to make an announcement.

Key areas of responsibility:

The Marketing & Event Coordinator's key areas of responsibility is to ensure that assigned tactics associated with each category below are properly planned and executed and in some cases managed and analyzed for effectiveness.

  • Social Media Coordinator

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree with a minimum of 2 years experience in a marketing environment at a small to mid-size organization
  • Extensive knowledge in using all popular social media networks
  • Capable of planning and managing events
  • Ability to multitask, manage projects and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Capable of making critical decisions and thinking strategically
  • Excellent writing, proofreading, editing and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to openly communicate with employees, customers, vendors and partners
  • Comfortable working occasional evenings and weekends
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Team player, willing to help others in their duties (we're a small team)
  • Must be resourceful and capable of working under tight budgets
  • Deep knowledge of Microsoft/Google Doc Applications
  • Some Adobe InDesign and Photoshop experience helpful
  • Personal interest and experience in outdoor sports a plus
  • Pass a background check

Austin Canoe & Kayak is seeking a sales associate to assist with day-to-day activities in our San Marcos store. If you have a passion for the outdoors, and enjoy working in a high energy retail environment this could be the perfect job for you! This position REQUIRES a person that enjoys people and selling outdoor products. ACK does not promote or encourage aggressive selling but rather informative and helpful coaching coupled with the ability to close a sale without using pushy selling techniques.

The job primarily consists of assisting customers in store and over the phone, as well as handling Internet orders, maintaining inventory, and store upkeep. Learning and performing kayak repair and installs is a frequent task. This is an hourly position with growth potential.

Ideal candidates will meet the following requirements:
