For our fourth installment in the brand new Meet the Team series we’d like to introduce Ryan Squires, Spring Store Manager. He is our go-to-guy for everything salty and a long time member of the ACK fam.
Welcome to the future. The Elite-TI TotalScan™ is the newest addition to the Lowrance lineup and is brimming with state of the art features both techies and diehard anglers can get excited about.
If you’ve been kayak fishing here in Texas you’ve probably heard of our favorite kayak fishing event: Kayak Anglers Tournament Series (KATS).
Kicking off the New Year big, the FishKATS X event on Lake Bastrop set the all time record with 147 participants! As check-in progressed, more and more anglers crowded the area, filling the bone-chilling, cold air with anxiousness and excitement.
I chatted with Barrett Fine, ACK’s Regional Operations Manager about ways anglers can improve their kayak fishing experience. Always a wealth of information, Barrett had the wise comment that increasing comfort while on the water is the best bet for improving your next kayak fishing trip.
Whenever I hit the water the primary objective is always to have a safe, fun experience doing something that I enjoy. However, if I am paddling a boat for the first time or using new equipment, it is my responsibility as a kayak salesman to test our products for performance and usability and share my findings with our customers.
You know the classic story about an up and coming star who happens to be discovered at some event like a Chili cookoff or waiting in line for coffee? Well, Barrett is kind of like the kayak fishing version of this.
Before our Austin store manager could even stock the YakAttack Track Mount Paddle Holders on our shelves, kayak anglers who had seen them on our website were calling him up to see if they were available in the store too! These paddle holders are a game changer because you can easily place or retrieve your paddle in one motion single-handed – the wheels allow your paddle to slip right in place.
Prior to working at ACK I had no idea kayak fishing was a thing. Since such a large part of my job is researching, talking about, and interacting with kayak fishers it didn’t feel right to have never gone out on the water for a kayak fishing session of my own.
