The plan was to put in around 10 am, paddle until we reached the island we’d camp on, spend the night, then pack up and paddle until we reached our take-out point under a bridge around mid-afternoon the next day, where Rising Phoenix would pick us up and take us back to Bastrop.
The experience was probably the best I’ve ever had camping anywhere, and it probably wouldn’t have worked out if I didn’t have help from work-the gear that ACK provided make the trip possible.
The number one cause of drowning is medical emergencies, and a proper fitting PFD could be the difference in making it home alive or not making it home at all. For that reason, I decided to write a blog about how much I enjoy my PFD of choice, the NRS Chinook.
Year after year, we love seeing your enthusiasm for paddlesports and your eagerness to get on the water and test out our boats. Without y’all, our Demo Days wouldn’t be half the event it is today!
We joined Snapchat recently and it’s just not nearly as fun on there without the audience to match (hello, thousands of thousands of ACK customers and fans on our other social media channels, we appreciate you!).
To help you know what to expect and make the most of the event, we thought we would answer some of the most frequently asked logistical questions we’ve received over the years.
“I’ve had this grand scheme to steal away for a few weeks during the Alaskan summer to be dropped off on an island in the PWS with a kayak and all my saltwater fishing gear and no connection to the outside world except a pickup date.”
This year, we are honored to represent and carry some of the leading kayak brands in the industry, including Feelfree, Old Town, Viking, Wilderness Systems and of course, Hobie. Here’s some of the new boats we’re most excited to showcase this year.
