With the ACK home base in Austin, Texas, we’ve got some awesome company in our nature-blessed city (think Yeti and Kammok). While we love our neighbors, we want to give a special shoutout to one of our newest and closest, the Oskar Blues Brewery (conveniently located within a five-minute drive of our HQ and Austin store).

Oskar Blues recently celebrated their one-year anniversary here in North Austin, and we couldn’t be more grateful they came.

While the Oskar Blues team has been great at quenching our employees’ particular thirst (if you know what we mean), they’ve also been great partners in the outdoor and fishing communities.

Here’s a glimpse at some of the cool things the brewery’s been involved with in their first year:

Tie One on Tuesday

Oskar Blues’ head brewer is also an avid fly fisherman, so he’s helped create  “Tie One On Tuesday,” an open invitation for any and all anglers to come out, hang with fellow local fishermen and tie flies together.

Not to mention, the event coincides with the brewery’s $2 Can Tuesdays! What more could you ask for? The event takes place on the first Tuesday of every month, and more info can be found on their Facebook page.

We know we’ll be at the next one – hope to see you there!

Can’d Aid Foundation

The Can’d Aid Foundation is Oskar Blue’s non-profit organization that focuses on helping local communities. Some of their main focuses include community support, sponsoring outdoor activities and music programs, and spearheading recycling and clean-up programs. One of their most notable activities is their canned water for communities facing unclean drinking water conditions.

From their website: “The CAN’d Aid Foundation is all about diggin’ in and makin’ a difference where we CAN. We focus our “do-goodery” efforts on supporting Towns, Tunes, Treads + Trails and Love Yur Mama programs.”

Lady Bird Cleanup

Earlier this year, Oskar Blues and the Can’d Aid foundation helped support a cleanup of our beloved Lady Bird Lake (still often locally referred to as Town Lake)! They worked closely with the American Rivers Association to help make the cleanup possible, and even got out there with us to their hands wet and dirty.

During the cleanup, we cleared 2,575 lbs of trash from the river, and all volunteers were treated with Oskar Blues tasty refreshments afterwards.

Kick Ass Holiday Party

Last, but most surely not least, they opened their doors for us and helped us throw a kick ass holiday party for all our employees this past winter!

Happy one-year anniversary, Oskar Blues! We couldn’t be more excited to have you and we look forward to a long, thirst-quenching relationship.
