How To: Install a Flush Mount Rod Holder
 
Imagine taking out your drill bit, making a hole, then taking a saw and making it bigger. Sound scarey? It really isn't all that bad. This shor tutorial will show you how to install a flush mount rold holder.
 
Items Needed
  Flush mount Rod Holder
Sharpie
13/64" drill bit
1/2" Butterfly Bit
Jig Saw Drill
Rivet Gun
4 Rivets
   
  1. Locate the area that you would like to install a flush mount rod holder. Using the foam gasket that comes with it trace a line around the inside of the gasket.
  2. Using the 1/2" butterfly bit, drill inside the circle you just traced to allow access for the jigsaw.
  3. Following the line you traced, use the jigsaw to slowly cut the hole out.
  4. Remove the excess piece and store somewhere you will remember as you can use that plastic later to patch your kayak up if needed.
  5. Insert your flush mount rod holder in the hole with the angled tube facing away from the direction you want your rod to go.
  6. Hold your rod holder in place while you use the 13/64" drill bit to drill into the kayak.
  7. Insert the rivets into the holes you just drilled and use your rivet gun to squeeze the rivets tight.
  8. Get fishing!
